Dental assistant careers are growing faster than almost every other profession. That stat comes courtesy of the U.S. Department of Labor, which also points out that it's a flexible profession with lots of part-time opportunities. Most dental assisting programs can be completed in one year, on average, depending on course load. Dental assistant programs often cover duties from taking x-rays to filling out insurance forms and answering phones. Students could receive a solid foundation in patient care, office tasks, and laboratory duties.
