• Nursing (RN - BSN) Bachelor's Degree

  The Nursing RN - BSN Bachelor's Degree program is designed for registered professional nurses who currently hold their associate's degree or diploma in nursing and a current Virginia license to practice. Our RN - BSN students engage in a blended learning environment that combines online and on-campus class sessions where students learn how to lead, manage, promote physically safe and healthy environments, and more. Graduates are prepared for positions in community health, informatics, leadership and management, and specialty bedside practice.

• Dental Assisting

  The Dental Assisting program is designed to give students the skills and knowledge needed to qualify for entry-level work as Dental Assistants. Students participate in an externship through which they may perform reception duties, clerical billing duties, recordkeeping, and more. Graduates are ready to pursue work in dental offices, dental supply manufacturers, hospital dental departments, or insurance companies.

• Massage Therapy

  The Massage Therapy program is designed to prepare students for careers in therapeutic massage as Certified Massage Therapists (Virginia) or Licensed Massage Therapists (North Carolina). In addition to instruction on sound business practices and the rehabilitative effects of massage, the program also consists of an externship that gives students valuable hands-on clinical experience. Upon gaining licensure or certification, graduates may seek employment in spas, wellness centers, fitness institutions, and more.

• Medical Administration

  The Medical Administration program is designed to give students the knowledge and computer skills needed to gain employment in various medical office settings. Students gain hands-on experience as they engage in classes on Medical Terminology, Transcription, Insurance and Coding, Pharmacology, and more. Graduates are prepared for work in clinics, hospitals, medical and dental offices, insurance and billing firms, and government health organizations.

• Medical Assisting

  The Medical Assisting program is designed to give students the technical skills, knowledge, computer proficiency, and work habits needed to gain employment in a variety of healthcare positions. Students gain administrative and clinical skills through hands-on learning and an externship. Curriculum includes courses in Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Computer Applications, and Clinical Procedures. Successful graduates are qualified to take professional certification exams.

• Physical Therapist Assistant

  The Physical Therapist Assistant program is designed to prepare students for work as Physical Therapy Assistants. Physical Therapist Assistants work under the direction and supervision of a Physical Therapist, providing physical therapy services. These include helping patients managing their injuries, sprains, strains, arthritis, and other injuries.

• Practical Nursing

  The Practical Nursing program combines classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction to prepare students for careers as Practical Nurses. Students gain valuable communication and critical thinking skills as they learn how to perform a variety of practical nursing functions. Graduates who obtain state licensure can secure Practical Nursing jobs in nursing homes, hospitals, physicians' offices, public school systems, and more.

• Registered Nursing

  The Registered Nursing program can be completed in as little as 15 months. Graduates are qualified to sit for the RN-NCLEX exam through the State Board of Nursing. Upon passing the exam, the graduate is licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse. Registered Nurses may find employment opportunities in a variety of settings, including hospitals, primary care clinics, out-patient care centers, hospices, and more.

• Surgical Technology

  The Surgical Technology program is designed to prepare students for positions in hospital operating rooms, hospital delivery rooms, out-patient care centers, dentists' offices, physicians' offices, and more. Curriculum includes courses in Anatomy and Physiology, Surgical Terminology, Surgical Theory and Technology, Microbiology, and Surgical Pharmacology. Graduates can be prepared for the Certified Surgical Technologist qualifying exam.

  Medical and health services managers plan, direct, coordinate, and supervise the delivery of healthcare. These workers are either specialists in charge of a specific clinical department or generalists who manage an entire facility or system.

• Diagnostic Medical Sonography

  Are you looking for a career field that is both in-demand and can help make a difference in a person's life? You could earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Health Science - Diagnostic Medical Sonography in 1.5 years through our year-round schedule.

  Through a blend of practical "hands on" clinical experience in hospital and/or outpatient centers and on-campus classroom and lab sessions, Sonography students can learn:
  
  · Ultrasound principles, operation of equipment and quality control
  · Cross-sectional anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology.
  · Sonographic principles of the abdomen, obstetrics and gynecology, breast and other superficial structures, invasive sonographic procedures, neonatal, trauma, and an introduction to vascular sonography.
  · Production of diagnostic images and appropriate examination adjustment according to the patient condition and findings.
  · Recording, analyzing and processing diagnostic data and other pertinent observations made during the procedure for presentation to the interpreting physician.
  · Patient care and education including ethical and legal aspects, interpersonal communication, infection control, physical assistance and transfer, and medical emergencies.
